Should Christians celebrate Halloween?
Halloween is a holiday celebrated each year on October 31 st and has a very dark, spiritual history. It was influenced by the traditional ancient Celtic festival of Samhain; where it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. It also marked the end of summer, the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death; a day deeply linked to ghost and superstitions. The Celts believed they could commune with the dead more easily on this day, therefore they would light bonfires and wear costumes typically made of animal heads to ward off the evil, harmful spirits. From the late 15 th century, people began wearing demonic outfits to represent winter spirts or demons. Individuals would mainly dress up as witches or the devil for Halloween.
